ARTICLE: Armistice Day, 1918
Today marks the 107th anniversary of the moment when the Allied armistice with Germany came into effect and the First World War came to an end. Well, it broke down into a number of smaller conflicts, but that’s another story for another day. As is the fact that it isn’t the official end of the war, just the point where everyone agreed to put down their weapons and talk. It could have kicked off again, but thankfully it didn’t. As a worldwide, all encompassing conflict, it was over when the clock struck 11:00am, and today, I wanted to examine what that felt like for people across the globe. Because just as we discussed to avalanche of emotions people experienced on the outbreak of war in Ring of Fire, the same was true on learning that it was over four years later…
