Just a short one today. This week, I’ve been sat down getting my talk ready for the Great War Group conference in Bristol, and I’ve had cause to go back over all the notes I made when we were writing Ring of Fire. In them, I found a story that didn’t make it into the book about four sisters in one tiny village, and their contribution to the Miracle on the Marne…

The battlefront for the Marne. It stretched 150 miles from Paris to Verdun. The area where this story takes place is in Foch’s Ninth Army sector, inside the pink circle. (West Point)
