This week I was doing one of my routine, directionless ambles around the Gallica website, which belongs to the Bibliothèque nationale de France. I happened to stumble across another gem, which ran to nearly 300 pages in an album dedication to French satirical art during the First World War. Today, I thought I’d share ten of my favourites with you…

The first one, above, is a swipe at the scientists behind the horror of industrial warfare. The caption reads: “PEACE AND QUIET! Our science has opened new horizons for the world.”
