I worked in Turkey for a while and was struck by how little university educated people knew of events before the 1919-23 war of Independence. For their generation history lessons at school began with the nascent modern Türkiye.

Excellent piece on Turkish Women in Turkey Alex, their suffering though should be taken into comparison with the suffering of the Turkish Empire's Armenian Women, maybe one for a future piece?

A well documented article, with many concrete examples! The authorities do not recognize the Armenian genocide. We have here centuries of common history, Romanian Kingdom became independent after the Russian-Ottoman war- 1877/1878.
